Emily tell me something you enjoy about working in brand design PR?

The breadth of what you're writing about and discussing - in any given month you might be referencing anything from scientific studies into ageing to Terrorvision's Tequila to Susan Sontag's Notes on Camp, Korg synthesizers, Pokémon Go, the menopause... Brand design essentially touches on pretty much everything.

What’s an exciting thing you‘ve noticed in brand design right now?

This isn't especially new, but for a few years it's been feeling as though designers are more aware of, and making the most of, the way in which they have an impact on the world around them – so everything from how sustainable the brands they're working with can be, to how we think about positioning products towards outdated ideas around femininity/masculinity, etc.

Share a piece of career advice that’s been helpful to you

Don't worry, no one really has a clue what they're doing.

If you hadn’t worked in brand design PR what would you do?

My first journalism job was writing about music, which had always been my dream when I was young, but since that doesn't seem hugely viable anymore probably working with otters in some capacity.
