The latest edition of our BRAND DESIGN PR SPOTLIGHT is on Gemma Maxey, one of our brilliant associate directors. Gemma is a trusted senior team member, who has many years of PR and client service experience. Her clients benefit from her care, attention and passion for the design industry. It's time we all found out a little more about her.

Gemma tell me something you enjoy about working in brand design PR?

Gemma: Working with brand design agencies to understand their business priorities and helping them to achieve those through strategic and creative PR.

What’s an exciting thing you‘ve noticed in brand design right now?

How brands are embracing arts and craft for a more visually engaging experience. A great example is Craig Black with his ‘acrylic fusion’ paint drip technique. I first came across his work, using it on snowboards (I’m a fan!) but he now collaborates with the likes of UEFA, Vans and most recently Porshe.

Share a piece of career advice that’s been helpful to you.

Relationships and communication are everything but what works for one person won’t for another. Be prepared to flex your style but stay true to yourself.

If you hadn’t worked in brand design PR what would you do?

Funnily enough, I did consider a career as a graphic designer as I loved art at school. I decided it wasn’t for me, so I feel very lucky to be able to work in the brand design industry without being an actual designer!
