🔴 BRAND DESIGN PR SPOTLIGHT 🔴
Claire founded Red Setter 15 years ago and since then has built an agency with a specialised niche, providing PR for the brand design industry, both agency and in-house teams. Based in Brighton, Red Setter now has clients globally, all world leading designers and thinkers who are creating the way that we experience the world around us through our interactions with brands.
We put Claire in the hot seat to give us more insights into her thinking about what it's like to work in brand design PR in 2024...
Claire tell me something you enjoy about working in brand design PR?
I love that I never stop learning. Our clients are all design agencies that work in diverse areas - from food and drink to big tech like Apple and Disney +.
We could be talking about the next generation of museums one day and the future of healthcare in the US the next. We’ve always got one foot in the future.
What’s an exciting thing you‘ve noticed in brand design right now?
I’m increasingly seeing a new wave of agencies blowing up the idea that you have a brand agency, then an ad agency, then digital etc. This feels different to previous ‘one stop shops’ by starting everything with brand, then adapting out to clever ad copy and brand led digital creative.
It’s a shift in market to value brand in a way I’ve never seen before.
Share career advice that you think is helpful others
Work hard, be nice to people, and know that your thoughts have value.
I also think it’s essential to be around people, to learn from and form relationships that just don’t happen when you’re working from home. So get into the studio or office, even if only for half of your time.
If you hadn’t worked in brand design PR what would you do?
Oh god, I don’t know. I love working in brand design PR! Maybe running a design agency, but that’s not hugely different.
You know I’ve always fancied being a restaurant critic. Maybe one day it’s a career side hustle to explore!
Thank you Claire for sharing!
